Are you planning individually or in your team, to have a good sort out at work or home of your cupboards, files, emails, folders, reports etc. Wondering how you can do this and sustain it? Are you thinking of doing things a bit differently to streamline your work and are open to new ideas about how to do this? If so come and join us to find out more about two key Lean based improvement tools – using the Waste Wheel and Waste Walk and how you can improve your workplace organisation using the 5S tool.
We are pleased to announce that we are running a Waste and Workplace Organisation workshop and would like to invite health and care staff who have attended the CPS Awareness Session to join us. The workshop is split into over two short workshops (two hours) and we ask that you can commit to both as they are not standalone sessions.
This workshop is a short session for anyone who wants to find out more about waste and workplace organisation: come and find out what the tools are and how they can help you and your team in the workplace. The workshop will be an opportunity to try out practical applications of the tools, and give you an opportunity to try the tools in your work area.
Waste is anything which doesn't add value to a product or service in the office, ward, laboratory, etc. In the healthcare context, value is defined from the perspective of the customer / patient. Any activity which doesn't contribute to this in some way is classified as waste. The 8 wastes can help to achieve improvement in healthcare by enabling staff to examine their own workplace and eliminate wasteful activity. This improves the patient experience as well as giving front line staff more time to reinvest in services.
5S is a technique that results in a well organised workplace complete with visual controls and order. 5S is now being applied to a wide variety of industries. It has expanded from manufacturing to health care, education, government and although the origins of the 5S methodology are in manufacturing, it has been very successfully applied in clinical and non- clinical settings to information and the electronic workplace as well as the physical workplace. The philosophy of this simple tool, practiced as a daily activity, can help in every aspect of life.
Come and join us and find out how you can make small improvements that can have a big impact! Individuals or teams are welcome.
