Coaching Matters (Cohort 7)

Our Learning and Improvement Collaborative exists to drive a positive transformation in health and social care across Cumbria and the Morecambe Bay area by leading and embedding a culture of collaboration for learning, continuous quality improvement, and living within our means. 


A key part of our strategy to nurture and build talented leadership in all staff is to develop a coaching culture, which this workshop contributes to. A coaching culture is one where: 

‘…coaching is a predominant style of managing and working together, and where a commitment to grow the organisation is embedded in a parallel commitment to grow the people in the organisation.’

This half-day workshop will provide an opportunity to explore some basic background to a coaching style of working. It will introduce you to:

  • the need for coaching in our workplaces
  • the difference between coaching and mentoring
  • self-awareness
  • a coaching framework for use in coaching conversations
  • new coaching skills such as: active listening; empathy; asking open questions; giving effective feedback which you will have the opportunity to practice


This workshop is suitable for any line manager in health and social care.


Please note that tea/coffee will be available from 12.30pm for a prompt 1pm start.
