This workshop will introduce you to the Policy “Supporting Patients' Choices to Avoid Long Hospital Stays”. This national Policy supports timely effective discharge from an NHS inpatient setting to a setting which meets their diverse needs and is their preferred choice amongst available options. The priority is always to discharge people to their home however this is not always possible due to their health and care needs. The NHS must ensure that this utilises hospital and community beds effectively and that they are only used for individuals who need specific hospital treatment that cannot be carried out better elsewhere. This training will raise awareness and support with the implementation of this Policy within the inpatient settings. This training will be carried out jointly with our partners to ensure a collaborative approach.
The session is aimed at all clinical inpatient staff in both community services and acute – including medical staff, ward managers, staff nurses, AHP and social workers. PLEASE ENSURE YOU READ THE ATTACHED POLICY BEFOREHAND.
