LOC in the Lakes returned last month with another successful conference.

More than 215 colleagues from health and care across north and west Cumbria (and beyond!) attended the Launch event at Carlisle Racecourse and the virtual workshops during the week of 16th May.

It is the seventh time we and the Academic Health Science Network North East and North Cumbria (ASHN NENC) have organised the conference, which this year focused on ‘Working differently for population health – inspiring change to reduce inequalities'. It really was great to be back seeing people face-to-face again, and was truly a fantastic week.

If you joined one of the sessions, we really hope you enjoyed it and found it valuable to you in your role. Feedback received has been overwhelmingly positive, with the thought-provoking events inspiring and motivating delegates to consider how they can work differently and begin to bring about real change in order to achieve better health for everyone

Attendees shared some of their thoughts on social media:

“Had a fantastic day at #LOCinthelakes thank you to all the speakers, facilitators and support staff. A brilliant collaboration and thoroughly insightful day. Great networking opportunities too and so good to see many colleagues in person for the first time in ages. Thank you”

“Fantastic day - meeting with people ‘for real’ instead of email and screen - so many ideas and so great to connect! Back to the NHS Wellbeing Service - North Cumbria tomorrow full of inspiration about how we further our work to connect with community. Thank you”

Keep it going!
Many of you shared your 'pledges', describing the actions you were going to take to address health inequalities in our area. We would love to hear about any improvements you have already made - please keep sending any updates to us at our email address below.

We will keep you all posted about our conference in 2023. In the meantime, as always we would really value your feedback or suggestions to help us make our future events even better! Please send us any comments you have to: events@theclic.org.uk

Thank you again to everyone who played a part in LOC in the Lakes 7!
