This workshop is a mix of theory and practice. It will give you the underpinning skills and knowledge required to enable you to take accurate physiological measurements including manual blood pressure and understand when to escalate concerns.
Please note that you will be undertaking measurements including blood pressure on yourself and each other so please wear suitable clothes.
There is a small risk that we may pick up an underlying health problem that you may not be aware of during the course of the day. If this occurs we will suggest you seek advice from your own GP.
By the end of the workshop you will be able to identify a change in a person’s condition and escalate appropriately through:
NCIC staff – 262 Mandatory NEWS2 Certification - via ESR
External candidates NEWS learning - https://news.ocbmedia.com/
NCIC STAFF – please print and bring a copy of the competency framework available to download from the intranet – Services – P – Practice Development – Clinical Skills – Competency Framework – Physiological Measurements.
This workshop is a precursor to all clinical skills workshops for non-registered staff. We would recommend completing this then moving onto venepuncture and catheterisation.
