Blood Glucose Monitoring and Delegated Administration of Insulin (Cohort 31)

FOR NORTH CUMBRIA INTEGRATED CARE NHS FOUNDATION TRUST (NCIC) STAFF ONLY

Training for Health Care Assistants and Assistant Practitioners who have blood glucose monitoring and/or administration of insulin as part of their job role and for competent Health Care Assistants and Assistant Practitioners who need an annual refresher.

This workshop is in two parts; the first will help you to develop knowledge and competence around diabetes and blood glucose monitoring. The second part is only intended for those who will undertake delegated administration of insulin.

During this workshop, we will look at:

• Blood glucose monitoring (including issuing barcode for acute staff)
• Type 1 and type 2 diabetes
• Development of competence in s/c injection technique and administration of insulin
• Why errors occur in practice 

PLEASE NOTE:

All candidates must attend the first part of the workshop.

Staff training to administer insulin, must complete the Safe use of Insulin pre-requisite eLearning:
